Yokoso! Welcome to Japan!

  • Seeing that we are arriving from all over the world on different flights, we’ll all meet at our hotel in Tokyo by Monday afternoon.

  • Gala opening dinner and at Chabad-Lubavitch of Japan in Tokyo.

  • Back to the hotel for a much needed sleep to prepare for our first touring day tomorrow.

The Tokyo Adventure

  •  Tour of the Land of the Rising Sun - at the Meiji Shrine, dedicated to the memory of Emperor Meiji, Japan’s 122nd Emperor.

  • Visit Harajuku. 

  • We’ll cross back into Yoyogi Park for a Picnic Lunch

  • Mori Art Museum - a colorful crossroads of people, cultures and nature

  • Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo’s busiest intersection, where thousands of people mass at the day’s end to make their way home

  • Visit the Shibuya Sky

1 November

Hakone - Art & Culture

  • Shacharit & Breakfast

  •  Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park

  •  Kawaguchi Lake - the Ichiku Kubota Kimono Museum & Gardens

  • Visit The town of Hakone, best known for quality hot springs, beautiful views and art.

  • Cable Car ride up the mountains to Owakudani Valley - an active volcanic area, where we’ll get up close to this powerful natural phenomenon.

  • Hakone Open Air Museum - where hundreds of sculptures made by the greatest Japanese and world artists are displayed on a mountain slope - the museum with the world’s largest private collection of the works of Pablo Picasso.

2 November

Tokyo - A Shopping Experience

  • Shacharit & Breakfast

  • Visit Toyosu market – the world’s largest and busiest fish market where auctioneers, wholesalers and retailers offer their wares in a wide range of sea-related foods, some of which we may never have seen before!

  •  Become part of an immersive art installation called TeamLab Planets

  • Cruise along the Sumida river, Tokyo’s primary waterway.

  • Enjoy our lunch as we sail past numerous office and hi-rise towers to Asakusa, Tokyo’s former entertainment district.

  • Visit the oldest and most important Buddhist temple in Tokyo – Senso-ji, as well as the colorful pilgrimage alley that leads to it.

  • Visit Ginza -  This is the area where Japan’s currency was first coined

6 November

Kyoto - Part 1

  • Shacharit & Breakfast

  • Make our way to Kyoto, Japan’s capital for almost 1,000 years - the heart of Japan. 

  • Visit the Bamboo Forest in Arashiyama

  • We will Admire the Zen Garden at Ryoanji Temple before continuing to Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion – and yes, it’s real gold

7 November

Kyoto - Part 2

  • Shacharit & Breakfast.

  • We’ll begin at Nijo Castle, built by Shogun Tokugawa Eiyasu. 

  • Visit the Kiyomizu Dera (Pure Water) Temple complex with its beautiful architecture and historic significance.

  • Meet a Geisha and witness a traditional Japanese tea ceremony

  • End the day at a Sake brewery where we’ll learn about this traditional Japanese drink - enjoy some tasting before heading back to Kobe

8 November

Himeji – Akashi – Tokyo​

  • Shacharit & Breakfast

  • Visit Himeji Castle - We’ll have an opportunity to climb to the top of the keep for a fascinating view of the town.

  • Akashi bridge - until recently the longest single span bridge in the world. We’ll learn how it was built and get to explore some of its innards.

  • Return to Kobe for an early dinner and then board the Shinkansen for our return to Tokyo.

  • Evening at Leisure in Tokyo.
