Tentative Itinerary
Monday
November 10
Day 1: Welcome aboard!
We gather at the dock in Tromsø, meet our crew, and board our sailboat for the week ahead.
Before we hoist sails, we familiarize ourselves with the boat and go through safety routines. We check the latest weather forecast and look at the route for the week before we set off towards Kvaløya and Kvalsundet. The adventure has officially begun.

Day 2: Sailing Toward the Wild North
Rebbenesøy, Vannøya & the Northern Lights
Waking up on open water, we breathe in the crisp Arctic air and begin our sail through the fjords. Keep your eyes on the sea — today we might spot whales on the move. We navigate past remote islands, fish for dinner, and drop anchor in the serenity of Rebbenesøy or Vannøya. As night falls, the sky may reward us with a dance of northern lights.

Day 3: In Search of Whales & Herring
Majestic Encounters in Arctic Fjords
Today, we follow the signs of nature — seabirds in flight and the splash of giants beneath the surface. Humpbacks and orcas gather here, drawn by massive herring shoals. We observe from a respectful distance, soaking in the magic of these creatures in their natural habitat. By evening, we reach the base of the Lyngen Peninsula, our hearts full of wonder.

Thursday

Day 4: Sailing Through the Lyngen Alps
Arctic Peaks, Glaciers & Whales
Sailing between towering snow-covered peaks, we journey into one of Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes. The dramatic Lyngen Alps rise straight from the sea: wild, jagged, and powerful. Between the icy fjords and flashes of whales in the distance, it's a day of unmatched natural beauty. We dock in Nord Lenangen, wrapped in stillness and awe.

Day 5: Preparing for Shabbat in the Arctic
Whales, Reflections & Arrival in Harbor
Shabbat begins around 1:00 p.m., so we spend the morning sailing calmly toward a safe harbor where we’ll anchor for the next 24 hours. Along the way, we might spot a few more marine visitors. As the early northern sunset sets in, we light candles, gather for tefilot, and share a festive Shabbat meal filled with warmth, song, and stories. A pause in time, surrounded by snow and sea.

Day 6: The Glow of Arctic Shabbat
Quiet Moments, Deep Light & Northern Wonders
Our Shabbat atmosphere continues with gentle peace, ending just as the soft Arctic light begins to fade. After Havdalah, we hoist the sails for the next part of our journey. We may venture out for a short winter hike or warm up by a bonfire. The Arctic light glows soft and surreal — a perfect evening to reflect, bond, and embrace the magic of this moment.

Day 7: One Last Sail Through the Fjords
Lyngen Peninsula & Farewell in Tromsø
Our final day takes us full circle as we sail around the stunning Lyngen Peninsula one last time. Alpine peaks and icy waters remind us of just how far we’ve come. By 4 p.m., we return to Tromsø: changed, inspired, and grateful.
