MONDAY

Day 1: Arrival in Quito

Welcome to Ecuador!

Upon arrival in Quito, you'll be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel to settle in after your international flight. This evening, meet your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner and begin the journey together as we prepare to explore one of South America's most fascinating destinations.

TUESDAY

Day 2: Quito, The Equator & Otavalo

  • Our adventure begins high in the Andes. We take in spectacular views from Quito's famous cable car before standing at the Equator, where the Northern and Southern Hemispheres meet.

  • Later, we travel north toward Otavalo, passing mountain scenery, traditional villages, and fertile valleys. Along the way, we experience the unique culture of Ecuador's highlands before arriving in the heart of the Andean region.

WEDNESDAY

10 February

Day 3 – Indigenous Traditions & Sacred Landscapes

  • Today offers a deeper connection to Ecuador's indigenous heritage. We visit local communities where ancient traditions remain part of everyday life, learning about medicinal plants, agricultural customs, and the cultural wisdom passed down through generations.

  • Later, we explore the beautiful surroundings of Cuicocha Lake and visit the famous Peguche Waterfall, an important spiritual site for the local people. The day concludes with a traditional wellness experience inspired by Andean traditions.

THURSDAY

Day 4 – Mindo Cloud Forest Adventure

  • Leaving the highlands behind, we journey into Ecuador's lush cloud forest region. Mindo is known for its waterfalls, tropical vegetation, colorful butterflies, and remarkable biodiversity.

  • Enjoy a day surrounded by nature as we explore forest trails, discover hidden waterfalls, and experience the peaceful beauty of one of Ecuador's most beloved eco-destinations. For those seeking a little adventure, optional activities offer a unique perspective on the forest canopy.

FRIDAY

Day 5 -  Community Connections in Guayaquil

  • This morning we travel to Guayaquil, Ecuador's vibrant coastal city and home to the country's largest Jewish community.

  • In addition to exploring a different side of Ecuadorian life, we participate in a meaningful community experience before preparing for Shabbat. As the sun sets, we gather with the local Jewish community for tefillah, a festive Shabbat dinner, and warm hospitality.

SHABBAT

Day 6 – Shabbat in Nature

  • Shabbat offers an opportunity to slow down, connect, and enjoy meaningful time together.

  • We spend the day with members of Guayaquil's Jewish community, sharing meals, conversation, and the special atmosphere that makes Shabbat such an important part of every KWA journey.

  • After Havdalah, we experience another side of Ecuadorian culture with an evening of music, movement, and local flavor, including an introduction to the rhythms that make Guayaquil such a vibrant city.

SUNDAY

Day 7 – Into the Galápagos Islands

  • Today we fly to the legendary Galápagos Islands, one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife destinations.

  • Upon arrival, we explore the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, visiting giant tortoises in their natural habitat, volcanic landscapes, and fascinating lava tunnels. This is our first introduction to the remarkable ecosystems that inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

MONDAY

Day 8 – Blue-Footed Boobies & North Seymour

  • Today, we explore North Seymour Island, one of the Galápagos' most celebrated wildlife destinations. This small island is home to blue-footed boobies, magnificent frigatebirds, sea lions, and a remarkable variety of native species found nowhere else on Earth.

  • Later, enjoy snorkeling in the clear waters surrounding the islands, where tropical fish, sea turtles, and other marine life thrive beneath the surface.

TUESDAY

Day 9 – Wildlife Encounters of South Plaza

  • South Plaza Island offers some of the most dramatic landscapes in the Galápagos. Surrounded by rugged cliffs and turquoise waters, the island is famous for its large colonies of sea lions and colorful land iguanas.

  • As we explore the island's trails, we'll experience the unique wildlife and volcanic scenery that have made the Galápagos one of the world's most extraordinary natural destinations.

WEDNESDAY

Day 10 – Bartolomé & Pinnacle Rock

  • Often considered the most iconic view in the Galápagos, Bartolomé Island showcases striking volcanic landscapes and the famous Pinnacle Rock rising from the Pacific Ocean.

  • We hike to panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding islands before enjoying time on the water, where opportunities for snorkeling and wildlife encounters make for an unforgettable day in this remarkable archipelago.

Thursday

Day 11 - Farewell to the Galápagos

  • This morning we visit the renowned Charles Darwin Research Station, where conservation efforts help protect the unique wildlife of the Galápagos Islands.

  • After one final opportunity to appreciate the islands' extraordinary beauty, we transfer to the airport for our flight back to mainland Ecuador, taking home unforgettable memories of wildlife, landscapes, and meaningful experiences shared along the way.
